Board of Directors

Mr. Poler joined Bain Capital in 1994. He has been a Managing Director since 1999. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Poler was a consultant at Bain & Company where he worked in the technology, consumer products and financial services industries. 

Mr. Merry del Val joined Bain Capital in 2006. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Merry del Val was a founding partner of Hemisphere One, a development capital firm specializing on retail and consumer goods, and was at Investcorp for 10 years prior to that.

Mr. Gent joined Bain Capital in 2007 and is an Operating Partner. Prior to joining, Mr. Gent was Managing Director of Avis UK and a member of the Avis Europe Executive Board.

Philip Joined Brakes Group as Group Chief Executive in July 2010. Previously, Philip was Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Europe for Sodexo. Before joining Sodexo, Philip was the Chief Operating Officer of MyTravel Group.

Phil Wieland joined Brakes Group in December 2011 as Group Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Phil was CFO of General Healthcare Group (GHG). He had previously been employed by BskyB, holding numerous senior finance positions including Supply Chain Finance Director and Group Financial Controller.

Ian Goldsmith joined Brakes in June 2006 as Strategic Planning Director. In January 2010 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer. Ian previously worked for LEK – a Strategic Management Consultancy – for two years before joining Blue Circle Industries PLC.
