Supporting Foodservice Footprint

Background
Sustainability is a broad and complex issue and modern businesses like Brakes Group place it at the very centre of their business ethos. But no individual business has a monopoly on wisdom when dealing with this issue and more debate and co-operation is needed, so that the foodservice industry can achieve higher levels of sustainability.’.

Action
To help promote improved practices Brakes Group became a founder member of Foodservice Footprint and Forum, a business publication and forum established to be a catalyst for debate and the exchange of knowledge on sustainability.

Brakes Group has provided its experts to take part in debates, advertising to support the bi-monthly magazine: Foodservice Footprint, and its head office as a venue for the Footprint Forums which are held every quarter.

Outcome
Brakes Group support has helped create a vehicle in which representatives from all sections of the food supply chain can come together to exchange their knowledge and experience of the ways in which companies can incorporate sustainability into all aspects of how they do business.

Forums have featured speakers from the National Union of Farmers, Lord Carter of Coles, chairman of the House of Lords EU Sub-Committee and many representatives from leading food producers and suppliers.

Nick Fenwicke-Clennell, CEO of Footprint Media commented: “Brakes Group support has helped in the creation of a catalyst for debate that provides our readers, users, members, partners and advertisers with a platform for communication, resulting in transparency, cooperation and standards that culminate in more sustainable industries.”
